Disturbing Business Practices

We found a fascinating article about Circuit City in the news and put it into our News Feature Politics.

It is indeed disturbing to see how big (and small) companies work nowadays, and the effect this has on society at large is devastating, Really, it should dampen the optimism of all humanists to see things like the laying-off-and rehiring practice described, because obviously the "brotherhood of man" does not exist. Neither are employers "brothers" by any stretch of the imagination, nor can the victims of such policies count on much solidarity from the rest of society, since society quickly forgets, and the cheaper price compromises, or rather, corrupts all principles, it seems. But funnily enough, things like this ultimately don't lead people back to the one reliable God, but rather drive them deeper into mammon worship. They are indeed deceived.

Thou shalt not defraud thy neighbour, neither rob him: the wages of him that is hired shall not abide with thee all night until the morning. (Lev 19:13)
