Biblical Plural Marriage
Biblical Plural Marriage involves one man and several wives - so technically, it is called polygyny, and this is what we are defining here today.
In terms of marriage itself, this is not something that occurs as the result of proper paperwork, or a certain ritual being performed by either state or church or anyone else apart from the two people marrying. Instead, marriage is established in the simple act of a man and woman becoming "one flesh". This act in itself is a covenant and binding for both.
Hence, purity is absolutely essential. Since marriage is a lifelong commitment that cannot be broken (except on the grounds of adultery), it is imperative that we promote purity, sexual purity and otherwise, in order to help bring about good, loving, lifetime partnerships that glorify God.
