We posted info about this previously, but here it is again. As stated on our website, we are not Mormons, but naturally we maintain a degree of interest in certain elements of the Mormon story. Ie. Polygamy or plural marriage. So here is the link...enjoy. I doubt we will be watching the show, as our one television set has not been plugged in for about 3.5 years now. ;-)

This spring, AMERICAN EXPERIENCE and FRONTLINE, two of PBS' most acclaimed series, join forces to present THE MORMONS, a new documentary series about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In two, two-hour episodes, filmmaker Helen Whitney ("John Paul II: The Millennial Pope" and "Faith and Doubt at Ground Zero") explores both the history and the current reality of the Mormon faith. Whitney gained unusual access to Mormon archives and church leaders as well as dissident exiles, historians and scholars both within and outside the faith. "Through this film, I hope to take the viewer inside one of the most compelling and misunderstood religions of our time," says Whitney.
The two-part film airs Monday, April 30, and Tuesday, May 1, 2007, 9:00-11:00 p.m. ET on PBS.

"Whitney turns to polygamy without sensationalism. Church leader Young would marry more than 50 women. The program estimates that just 20 percent to 30 percent of Mormons practiced polygamy. Still, plural marriage would hurt the Mormons' image and stall Utah statehood for nearly 50 years. In 1890, the church renounced polygamy."
