Simple Living Online

We have been joining and looking at a lot of groups online last Friday and Sunday that discuss a number of things we are interested in, from a number of perspectives. So we came out of the weekend with a million thoughts and topics to discuss and ideas to blog about and to write about on our site Joshuah's House.

The groups we joined are groups with Anabaptist, Mennonite or Amish members, that is, Plain People groups, groups concerned with old-fashioned Christian housekeeping, homeschooling, Christian head coverings and gardening, homesteading groups and simple living groups, Christian Domestic Discipline groups, and Christian polygamy and plural marriage groups.

We discussed many aspects this weekend, among them

• end times theology and soul sleep,
  
• Isaiah 4:1 and the state of the Union,
  
• obstacles on the way to God and how to refute them based on Scripture,
  
• the letter of James to the lost tribes,
  
• home based business and cottage industry,
  
• affiliate marketing, multiple streams of income and micro-sites,
  
• spending less and using less,
  
• getting the heck out of Dodge asap,
  
• accountability partners and how spouses shirk their responsibilities, and how members of groups don't seem to see that their help is not going to make things better, but worse,
  
• how to educate your children in a godly way so that they do not have to start at ground zero again when they are 40,
  
• the way people dance around polygamy as a biblical option for family life, trying to prove that monogamy is the only "really" godly form of marriage, relying on all kinds of pagan customs and experiences to refute the biblical concept of plural marriage,
  
• the blog of some atheist who ranted against the "Christian Reich",
  
• and we learned that in New Zealand, it is forbidden now to spank your child.

What all of it, literally all of it boils down to is consistency. All areas of life are God's and we are to put all areas of life under the authority of God, be it family relationships or business, be it social aspects or matters of study, be it aspects of simple living or morality, be it matters of health or stewardship concerning the environment, and we plan on putting up ONE site on which to merge all these aspects to show how a consistent life might look like. Those who have ears to hear, let them hear.
