Self Sufficiency in Practice, Lesson #1
Yesterday, we defined the kind of self sufficiency we are talking about - it is, ultimately, God sufficiency, that means, God alone is what our family, Joshuah's House, relies on. This means that we stay away from what society has to offer as best as we can, for it is corrupt and ungodly in many ways, and turn to God for guidance in every respect, be it concerning moral standards or the food that we eat and the clothes that we wear.
So let us spell out the practical side of God sufficiency here today and in the days to come, aspects of it, at least, so that you get an idea what living a simple, godly life, looks like.
Homesteading is the ideal way of living the way God has planned for us, and in today's world, since homesteading is not allowed anymore technically, the one thing you really need to live independent of society is an acre or two of land. Saving the money you need to buy land somewhere remote is important and should be a priority, and also a by-product of a simple life - "spend less" usually amounts to more saved money that "earn more". This land you plan on buying, remember that, will be the land you pass on to your children.
So practical lesson #1 is indeed to change your lifestyle from spending all you earn on whatever luxuries you need to convince yourself that you are not leading a life of quiet desperation, to realizing what it is you need to live God sufficiently - land - and to save accordingly, to downsize until you have the means to buy your own land somewhere remote, and to remove yourself from society physically, and not only mentally or spiritually.
Stay tuned for lesson #2.
