The Radical 7-Day Money Diet

Did we not just blog about finances and quicken and keeping track of your finances last week ? Well, the article below is much more liberal that we deem healthy in terms of finances - for yes, it is important to keep track of every penny, and if you don't make it through the week with the cash you set aside for it, it is not "OK", as the article says, but a failure. If you cheat on your money diet, it is just like standing in the open fridge door at night eating chocolate cake, while during the day time counting every gram of fat and all the carbohydrates meticulously.

One thing that obviously never occurred to the author of the article, or the quoted Certified Financial Planner, is the idea of sacrifice. If the money you set aside for the week doesn't take you through the week, you should take the responsibility for your spending habits and simply go without - without eye shadow, or the usual morning Starbucks coffee, or even without food or gas, if your planning skills are so poor at this point. Maybe that will teach you a lesson if you cannot afford to go to work anymore (and lose even more money in the process).

So read the whole article here, it might give you some interesting insight and even good advice, but don't fool yourself - it is rather lenient, and the lady who reports having been "shocked and a little disappointed" at falling back on her credit card on Wednesday already when she had the goal of making it through to the next Monday, probably hasn't learned enough of a lesson, in our humble opinion.
