A Simple Life
Have you been home schooled by your parents, are now in college and realize that what Mom and Dad told you and your siblings about the world outside is indeed accurate ? That it is difficult for Christian ladies to find like-minded people out there, people who rather choose to live simply and close to God's creation, who trust that God is faithful to His word and live according to His word ?
Don't despair - you are not alone after all, even if you feel like it sometimes. If you are "just" interested in simple country life and don't believe in God, punch in "home steading" into your search engine, and find homesteaders of all shapes and sizes.
If you are indeed inclined to live a simple life by God's design rather than by men's design, you might be interested in visiting Joshuah's House.
You wonder if there is a difference ? Indeed, there is.
What does a simple life by God's design look like ?
First of all, and most importantly, it is a life in the countryside, removed from cities or even towns or villages. We prefer it to be in the mountains, taking Jesus' advice (or is it more of a command ? see for yourself, Mat 24:16ff) to flee to the mountains seriously. Separation is an important factor if you want to follow God's word, and if you as a SAHM want to provide the best environment for your children to grow up as God-fearing people who do not shirk their responsibility towards creation and the family. It is important to provide a good background for home schooling, too, and to be able to live as self sufficiently and independently as possible from a world that moves further and further away from God at every turn. It is important because you can build a home there that will provide the basis for the oldest son and other children to stay with their own families, to maintain the land and expand it, so that the next generation doesn't have to start at ground zero again, neither spiritually nor in terms of assets.
Simple life by God's design is based on the multi-generational family, and for us, it includes plural marriage with as many children among my husband and his wives as we can have, to fulfill God's dominion covenant as best as we can:
"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth." (Gen 1:27-28)
