Darker Side of Mormonism?
It seems as though the PBS Special on the Mormons has been rather successful in exposing the "Darker Side of Mormonism" to the mass of American citizens who, somehow, were previously unaware of it's origins. Well, I say this with a smidgen of irony dripping from my tongue really, because I can't help but think that, in the end, all of this focus on Mormonism and plural marriage is really a form of Anti-Republican propaganda, and nothing more.

" A Washington Post/ABC poll in February found that only 29 per cent of people would be less likely to vote for a candidate because he or she was a Mormon, down from 35 per cent a few months before. But white evangelical Protestants are cooler: 38 per cent of them indicated they would not vote for a Mormon. This reluctance could matter in important early primary states such as South Carolina, where Christian conservatives play a prominent role. Romney's good fortune is that, for different reasons, both McCain and Giuliani are also regarded warily by the religious right."The majority of Americans consider themselves Christian. Whenever the average American citizen hears of Mormons, they think polygamy, generally speaking, and now whenever they think Romney, they will think polygamy too.
Since Churchianity is so proficient at ignoring or grossly modifying their own scriptures regarding plural marriage, and jump through all manner of fiery hoop to avoid the obvious conclusions, they are able, quite comfortably, to reason in the following manner:
- Mormons=polygamy=sexual immorality=wickedness
- Romney=Mormon=polygamy=sexual immorality=wickedness
- Romney=Mormon=polygamy=wickedness=propaganda
