Ever Heard of "Digamy" ?
For the fun of it - we found this little snippet today on the internet:
"You're certainly familiar with the word "polygamy" -- the form of marriage in which a person has more than one spouse at the same time -- but you probably haven't heard of the word "digamy." Whether or not you know what it means, though, you could very well be a participant. "Digamy" refers to a person's second legal marriage, whether the first marriage was ended by death or divorce."
So in terms of legal marriage, someone is only "monogamous" as long as he or she is with his or her first, very first, spouse.
I wonder if the people who are so sure about monogamy being the only form of marriage God intended, and who just love to point out the fact that today, polygamy is illegal anyway, would find "digamy" acceptable because it is legal... The biblical teaching about marriage includes all these anyway, with some specific regulations (and certainly with clear teaching about divorce) and we hope that people indeed learn to see that some day.
Think !
